Post 1: What prompted Oracle Alumni Network (OAN)

Am Pasting LinkedIn post and other updates so easier to search by history and scroll.

A Mid week post due to the urgency of the matter. The headline is you are a 30000 strong skilled force, valued at 8 billion USD and can easily be the NEW BIG 4. Let me explain how and why.

I was dreading this news as had anticipated this. As someone who has spent nearly 25 years with Oracle the writing was on the wall. I had put a post 2 years back when I consciously moved out of India Head role that with advent of AI, the demand will be for hands on, customer facing skills. Anyone who adds to the Top Line or improves bottom line will be valued.

For a moment I want all you who are impacted by the job loss to think that you have joined an existing Big 4 and are a strong 30000 workforce with expertise across Oracle applications and technologies tasked to deliver maximum value for Oracle customers. You are a team which cuts across product lines, across functions from A&C, from product development to support, from vertical to horizontal products, from Consulting to customer success, from sales to marketing, across Lob’s and YOU COLLABORATE to solve customer problems. If you think this is COLLECTIVE STRENGTH and gives you confidence, please stay with this thought and hear me out, because you can make the biggest gap within Oracle as your biggest Strength.

This strength is COLLABORATION across geographies, industries, accounts and functions. Something that Oracle customers and partners want and YOU ALL HAVE.

With a large installed base of customers, with 85% being Oracle DB customers, with nearly 90% applications in BFSI space being on old Oracle tech stack, with AI being available in Oracle DB, with customers wanting maximum ROI from their Oracle investments the market is huge. Product gaps in Fusion can be built by you using Oracle tech stack. Most customers don’t even know what is their Oracle investments and what they can get most from there.

There is immense demand and enough real life customer problems to solve. I would urge to look at this like a new start up and you have 6 months to prove and have the belief that you are the next Big 4. Gig workers and gig economy is inevitable so make that happen. A 30K strong workforce can do wonders to support partners and customers, what you need is direction and guidance. There are enough folks here who have been part of Oracle for long and am sure will come forward to help you all. Help from skilling, coaching, mentoring, contracting, employment, strategy STARTUP and more. I know many who said they can step in because all of us built our career around Oracle. I am willing to devote daily 1-2 hours and weekends to help this group become a strong collaborative force be. If you operate like a CEO, nothing can stop you.

We are as valuable as the biggest problem we solve, so let’s come together and become a force multiplier because real break through comes out of crisis. Stay Strong. Those who want to support our Oracle colleagues, please share your views here and we call it Oracle Alumni Network (OAN).
